11 weeks post op lefort 1 and lower jaw advancement

#1 Post by cheekysara »

!1 weeks ago to the day I had my jaw surgery. Upper movements were 1 mm one side and 3 on the other. My bottom jaw was brought forward 5.5 mm as I had an overbite. Due to complications in the operating theartre they did not go ahead with the genioplasty (Complications being that I had significant blood loss and a hematoma). I saw my ortho today and she has informed me that the surgeon has said that if I am still unhappy with the way my chin looks he will perform the genioplasty, she said that the movement would be 1 to one and a half mm. I am soo stuck. I do not know what to do. 1 or 2 mm is not a lot? I see my surgeon next week and I can ask him then on his opinion but I guess I wanted some of your opinions? My chin looks soo much better now but could it look better? I might have a blood clotting disorder and my blood test results have not came back yet either so I do not know if I have a blood clotting disorder which could effect other surgery.

It's hard to judge without pictures. However, 1-2mm is not that big of a difference and you do say that your chin looks so much better now anyway, so maybe this isn't really worth the risk?

It doesn't look bad when I smile but when my mouth is relaxed my chin still looks a little on the receeding side.
