Holy molars! Please advise! (Molars touching in rear?)

Hi,

I've talked to a couple surgeons who have said that after my anterior (front) open bite surgery my second molars may not touch in back, but that after a few months to a year they will grow together just fine--that's just "physiologically how it works," the surgeon told me.

Does this sound reasonable to you guys? I would actually not be having braces after the surgery because the surgeons feel my upper and lower jaws are already in a good enough position for surgery.
