How long until stitches dissolve?

Hi all,

I've had my surgery 3 weeks ago and I'm just wondering, how long until the stitches dissolve/fall out? How long did it take after your surgery before your stitches were gone?

I can't remember exactly, but mine did take a while before they were all gone. You may need to pull some out yourself later on as they become partially dissolved but not enough to fall out, which can make them quite annoying- but don't try and pull them out if they are still firmly in! (just a warning because they hurt!)

Just keep checking on them, but it may take a while longer.

Mine took a little longer than I thought they would, but they were all gone by about week 5 or 6.

I think I started to spit them out after a week and they were mostly gone by 2 weeks and definitely all gone by 3 weeks.

I am almost 5 weeks post-op. My stitches fell out around 4 weeks.
