WIsdom teeth coming through...

I need some advice!

When I initially got my braces on almost 2.5 years ago, the ortho noticed my wisdom teeth and told me I wouldn't yet need them removed. At this time they were impacted.

Fast forward to now. I started feeling my wisdom teeth coming up a few weeks ago and whenI looked in the mirror his pas weekend, I saw the teeth. I started experiencing pain and now my right gland is aching and the right side. The right wisdom tooth coming up is more prominent
than on the left. I know some pain is to be expected when growing new teeth but is it normal for my gland to ache?

I go to the ortho on Tuesday to finally get my braces off. I feel like he'll tell me I now need the teeth extracted since they might throw off everything the braces have done. I can't afford this and am actually not even looking fwd. to getting the braces off now.

Below is a picture of my XRays from 9/2009 where you can see my wisdom teeth. From anyone who has been in my situation, do you think they'll grow in straight? I'm all nervous now.

There are other bad consequeces from this problem other then just moving your teeth. Those growing wisdom teeth can damage your healthy molars and you can wind up loosing a healthy tooth.
If they have to go, they have to go sooner than too late.
I am not a dentist, but I have my wisdom removed with no problem. My insurance covered most of the cost.
If you do not have any insurance try to find some dental school where they can do it at a reasonable price.
On your X-ray it really looks like one of the wisdom teeth is positioned in a bad way.
As for the pain - well, it can radiate in all sorts of areas. Is that normal? Well, what causes it does not look normal, so ...

I had this problem. They were under the gum and only a small tip of the tooth was peaking thru the gum. I had to have them removed by an oral surgeon. The os removed them under sedation so I dont remember anything beside suddenly waking up and it's over.

I'm so scared of the blood afterwards. I know when I had to have 2 molars extraced for my braces, I bled for about 12 hours afterwards and couldn't get the clots to form. I'm a total dental wuss

It all depend on how good is the os. Mine was good I didnt bleed too much but i had to puke because I had swalloed too much of it. If you follow directive from the os you wont have any problems.

Randee: For me, when I had my wisdom teeth extracted, it was much easier and less bloody/less painful than when I had two regular adult teeth (not even molars) removed. Maybe because it's such a regular surgery, or maybe because I was readied for worse, it was really not a big deal. Plus they gave me "happy drugs," so I couldn't have cared less about the small amount of blood/pain.

I made my appointment for 12/6 at 8am... I'm super nervous but will be SO glad when it's over! Thanks for the positive reinforcement. It makes me feel a little better. How long did it take for you to heal? They stitch you so you shouldn't bleed as much, right? I'm sooo nervous.

I would definitely get those taken care of as soon as possible. I was unlucky and I waited too long to get my wisdom teeth extracted. Actually, they aren't out yet! I just made my appointment today. Mine are both horizontally impacted in my lower jaw. Because of how long they've been erupted, the roots of the wisdom teeth have grown very close to a major nerve making it more complicated to extract. The smaller they are, the easier it is to get em out.

The sooner you get rid of those suckers, I say the better! Good luck with getting them extracted. I hope it will go smoothly for you.

My bottom teeth were straight, then the wisdom popped up. One is impacted, sideways. Now the bottom teeth in the front are crooked and its still moving

Started about 2-3 years ago.

Going to have it extracted sometime in 1Q 2011. Just remove yours since it doesn't look like its going to come up straight.
