Jaw Surgery in California Covered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield?

Any Californians had their surgery covered by Blue Cross/Blue Shield? And what medical conditions do BCBS cover for?

I'm under my parent's insurance which is HMO.

You've got a couple things going against you. I've heard BCBS does not generally cover surgery often. Also HMOs generally pay less.

There are many postings on this site from patients in CA who have been successful in getting their surgeries covered. CA has some good consumer protection laws which make it difficult for companies to specifically exclude this type of coverage. Of course, it has to be "medically necessary" but I believe in CA they can't just list a blanket exclusion as they do in other states. I'd read the policy carefully to see what the guidelines are.
