Chicagoland surgeons

#1 Post by streo »

I've committed down the path of having lower jaw advancement + genioplasty. Can anybody share their (hopefully positive) experiences/results with any Chicagoland surgeons?

I went to the University of Iowa in Iowa City and have nothing but good things to say about my doctors there. That would be about 3 1/2 hours for you, but totally worth it.
Jan 1998 - 4 Teeth Removed
May 1998 - Braces 1st Time (surgery recommended)
June 2000 - Wisdom Teeth Removed (crowded lower palate)
Dec 2008 - Braces 2nd Time (surgery recommended again)
June 2009 - Bottom Palate Expander
Mar 2011 - Lefort 1 (forward 5.5 mm with malar implants/bone grafting)

Yeah, that's a little out of the way...what did you have done?

Lefort 1 with a 5.5 mm advancement and cheek implants. Great experience and some of the best surgeons you will find. Plus my insurance played nice because it is an educational institution.

It was only an hour from where I am located, but I would have been willing to drive much further for the same experience.

I only have regular oral maxillofacial surgeon recommendations for Chicago and the western burbs. Let me know if you need them at some point. I only have experience with smaller procedures (zygomatic bone plates/anchors and wisdom teeth removal). Here is the group I went with for the plates and liked:
