How long to recover from sliding genioplasty?

#1 Post by redblondefox »

I'm due for a sliding genioplasty and rhinoplasty mid-September. I have a holiday booked to Croatia with my boyfriend just over 3 weeks after the op.

Does anyone reckon I'll be okay for it? I've been through jaw surgery and obviously that was a long recovery but I know it won't be anything like that this time - surgeon said 2 weeks.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks.

I got my genioplasty redone about 11 days after jaw surgery because it fractured. I swelled massively with the original surgery, but after the second genio had practically no extra swelling. Tommorow is three weeks post op for me and even after both surgeries I would be fine at this point going on holiday. Everyone's different, but I'd say 3 weeks is more than long enough for a genio on its own 8)

I just looked at pics of myself 3 weeks after my sliding genio and I looked pretty normal with most of the swelling gone. You should be fine!

Okay great this is such a relief to hear! We won't be doing anything mad in Croatia - just some boat excursions. I did read I'd have to keep my nose out of the sun as it would be mega-sensitive for a couple of months so sunblock and a hat!

Did anyone have a genio after their jaw surgery? If so how much numbness did you experience with the chin? I've posted another message about my chin and bottom lip and that is it's still quite numb and very stiff a year post-op. I'm a little worried!

I just realised I didn't post that I'd be having a rhinoplasty done at the same time! D'oh! But I know that's about 2 weeks to be recovered (not fully obviously) but enough to return to work.
