Slight Open Bite Relapse.

#1 Post by jennaaa »

In April, 2009, I underwent massive jaw surgery on both my upper and lower jaws. It also corrected my gummy smile, among other problems related to my jaw.
The surgery was a complete success.
However, fairly recently it has been discovered that my open bite has slightly relapsed. It now measures 1mm.
My orthodontist doesn't want to correct it yet, due to possible movement that may occur now. He suggested braces again, yet said it was up to me whether I wanted them or not.
You see, I'm 19 now, and really not into wearing braces for the third time.

I really want to know whether a 1mm open bite is a big deal. Do you notice it on people?
Please give me advice. Has this happened to anybody else? And have you left it, and nothing wrong has happened?

Please reassure me - I'm very scared :/
