condylar resorption

#1 Post by biggs »

Hi, ive been struggling with my jaw pain for a very long time. Through some research ive come across "condylar resorption". Does anyone on this forum know exactly what this is and how is it usually corrected.

For example could a Vertical Maxillary Excess cause a condylar resorption? And if so then could a lefort 1 to move the maxillary up correct the condylar resorption?

I understand i could be asking a vauge question but anyone who any idea about this then please advise. Thankyou so much in advance.

i imagine if you search "condylar resorption" you'll find some posters asking the same questions. i remember a blog about a girl who had condylar resorption and how she needed something like 100,000 to correct it because she lost so much bone but i cannot find the link.

I have condylar resorption in both joints. It is not really something that is easily "fixed." I had double jaw surgery 2 yrs ago in order to (in part with other issues) help stop the resorption. The bone does not just come back when it is gone. I'd imagine there are surgeries that are invasive to the joint itself, however, I have found relief with the change of jaw position. You can read about my process on my blog: asmileconnectsus.blogspot.com , I also know that if you search this forum you'll find more posts discussing condylar resorption. Best of luck!
