I'm almost four months post-op (Lefort 1, BSSO and genio) and I've noticed that the scars from incisions that were made for the genio have opened up into what I can only describe as pockets. After the surgery I initially had a couple of dark red scars where the gum and inside of my lower lip join, which the surgeon said would gradually fade. But instead they got longer and wider and have now opened up into two pockets about 7mm wide. I just saw the ortho and consultant this morning who agreed that the gaps are clean (ie not filling up with food) and don't go down to the bone so just to give it time and not intervene at this point. Did anyone else have this? Is there anything I can do about it other than be vigilant rinsing my mouth? How long do you reckon it could take to heal? I've not heard of anyone having this problem so it'd be nice to know I'm not alone with it! Thanks for any info.
