New Braces

Hi Had my braces fitted yeterday on the NHSat my local hospital and was given a rough date for upper an lower surgery of 14 months time,I am very surprised how big the braces feel in my mouth and the amount of hooks on the brackets which are realy digging in badly, any tips would be great

Hi Mike,

Sorry to hear you're feeling discomfort! In terms of the hooks, I've found that putting wax over the offending hooks helped; there's a hook on my bottom wire right now that was rubbing a nasty canker sore into my lip, and using wax really helped until the skin "toughened up".
