Plan changes...

#1 Post by Leebie3 »

Hi all, plan initially with ortho was lefort 1 and BSSO and was changed to just BSSO by surgeon who didn't think I'd benefit from upper impaction.. WELL pre surgical appt today and now she thinks I need BSSO (forward 9mm), Le Fort 1 (impact 3mm) rotate both jaws by 2mm AND a setback genio!

molds and facebow done today.. waiting for the registrar to do up the ceph and then the plan will be set in stone and the operation booked for in a few weeks (although genio will be decided on the table) :s

Anyone else had such a major change to plan at such a late date?

Yes; it's hard for the surgeon to predict the exact situation before the ortho is done with you.

The exact movements required are based on the position your ortho has put your teeth in with your braces. Your pre-ortho surgical consult is based on the oral surgeon's guess as to what your ortho can accomplish with braces. Now that the ortho proclaims you to be ready for surgery, the surgeon now knows exactly what your ortho was able to do, and can plan the movements more exactly.
