I was off for three weeks. I had a one piece Lefort, which isn't nearly as complicated, but I was also nine weeks postpartum and I think it slowed my healing time a bit.

Some time halfway through the second week, I woke up feeling like a completely new person. I think part of it was getting off the pain and nausea meds as soon as possible and having them completely out of my system. I'm still amazed at how much recovery time I needed vs. what I thought I would need (which in my head was more like six weeks.)

Just had Bimax four weeks ago -- I went to work my summer internship (basically installing electrical cabling, handling wires, mounting equipment, ladder-based work, etc.) exactly two weeks after surgery. I needed to get out of the house and frankly felt like craziness had begun to kick in--call it social withdrawals. I'm 24 y.o and now doing full time college (18 cr. hrs.) + work (30-40 a week) at this point. Still on a liquid diet, and I am definitely tired at the end; but I can't see sitting around waiting for my jaw to catch up with life. Just make sure to drink your liquids, because every calorie counts and dehydration is your biggest nightmare.

Cheers!
