I had lower jaw surgery about 12 months ago and I have a curve in my jawline on one side. My surgeon said something about my bones growing in with a gap, I don't quite remember what he said, but he didn't really explain it or reassure me about it.
I cannot find anything online about this happening. It kind of looks like Jason Behr's jawline (if you google him you'll see what I mean), but fortunately not at all as prominent.
This is really starting to bother me. I noticed it months ago but wanted to wait and give it time to heal. Since my surgeon is not helpful, I'm getting a second opinion, but in the meantime, does anyone have any advice or experience with this problem?

Hi bluebird1
I am sorry this is happening to you
i have never heard of this happening to anyone while reading stories online but i was wondering, how did you know something was wrong? Did you feal pain? Did you feel something weird? Problems when chewing?
It's helpful to know in case this happens to anyone else or has already happened and they can''t recognize it, because it seems that you also understod something was not right very long post-op.
Hope your problem will be resolved. Best of luck

I noticed it quite soon after surgery, maybe 3-4 months. I was putting moisturiser on and felt that my jawline had an indent.

I'm nearly a year post op and still have the indents in my jaw. If I press hard enough I can feel the plate on one side! And in the right lighting you can see the indents too. It doesn't really bother me, in fact being able to feel the indents makes it all seem a bit more real to me, if that makes sense. Like a physical reminder of what happened! I've brought it up with my surgeon before and he didn't seem overly concerned, and it doesn't cause me any problems or pain. Maybe it will fill in over time, who knows!
