Pain from stiches 5 weeks post op help

#1 Post by JawSaw93 »

Today was my first day back at work since lower jaw surgery five weeks ago. I haven't had pain since day one. All day I noticed small discomfort and with my tongue I could feel the left side where the stiches are felt different than the right. I noticed a long thread of stich and assumed it was loose, but it wasn't and that gave me a lot of pain which subsided. Woke up in the middle of the night hurting and I made it much worse by trying to remove the stich... It now feels like an infection, however this pain must subside since it was mostly brought by myself right? Now it's painful to open my mouth and swallow, pain I've never had. Work tomorrow again with no sleep! :?

Tugging at loose ends of my stitches caused a burning sensation for me, but it was never so severe that I woke up in pain in the middle of the night. When do you see your surgeon next?

Well, in the end my surgeon pulled out the remaining strings. Not sure why some of them lasted as long as they did  But it burned like a mofo when she pulled them out 8)
