Day 50 post op double jaw surgery Does jumping slow down healing?

#1 Post by King6james2 »

Hello guys I am on day 50 double jaw surgery, yesterday I was on the basketball court dribbling and shooting around. I did jump maybe about 10 times. Will that affect the healing? I didn't feel any pain at all.

I'm not a doctor but so long as you didn't knock your jaw, or clench too hard in such a way as to damage your jaw, then most likely you didn't do any harm.

In fact exercising may have actually increased the rate of healing, as exercising increases blood flow, and this alone can speed up the healing process. This is why doctors sometimes suggest applying heat, as heat also opens up your capillaries and increases blood flow to the healing site.

At day 50 I wouldn't think you'd even be under any sort of restriction from whatever your normal activities are. At this point, barring injury, healing should proceed however fast it's going to proceed, no matter what you do or don't do.
