Did anyone else deal with extreme lip swelling after surgery (upper jaw)?

#1 Post by Crimsonchin95 »

My lips (which are naturally very thin) have absolutely BALLOONED in size. I have to apply lip balm every 10 minutes or so, and can't close my mouth. I saw my surgeon today and he didn't say that anything was strange about it, but...dear God this is so uncomfortable! ! I had my surgery yesterday (Tuesday ) and can't take off my face cast until Saturday! I think my face cast has caused all the swelling to get pushed into my lips :(

Yes lol the top layer of skin also peeled off a few times. Give it 3-5 weeks for the lip swelling to chill out.

Yep! My lower lip got comically big, my top lip while extremely swollen, was nothing compared to it. When my lower lip started to go down I saw a little spot that IMO indicated that it had been crushed by some kind of clamp during the procedure. It went away and now I can't even tell where the spot that was crushed had been.

I had my surgery on the morning of the 28th and my lips actually aren't as swollen as I was expecting. They're swollen enough that I can't shut my mouth, but nothing major. I keep them slathered in vitamin A&D ointment and they're still getting sores.

My lips are almost back to normal, now, 5 days (I count the day after surgery as day 1, it's just how Im doin it) post op....however, I can't seem to move my top lip very much at all because of all the stitches on my upper lip. I can feel the screws by my nose and it's very disconcerting :(

I hope so! I'm loving my profile (minus the neck swelling giving me a double chin, lol) so far, but the front of my face looks whack lol. It's only a week out so I'll give it some time before I make any judgments
