Infection after SARPE

#1 Post by Raerae2639 »

Did anyone else experience infection after SARPE? I was doing okay after the first two weeks, my swelling was receding, albeit slowly and then suddenly the one side of my face swelled up noticeably again, I am running a fever of 99.6 and there is pus oozing from somewhere along my gumline.

(I have ANOTHER follow up at the surgeon tomorrow....my orthodontist was so surprised though, she said she had NEVER seen an infection with this procedure.)

The mouth is a very dirty (bacteria filled) place even with the best sanitizing. Not uncommon at all.
Round 3 (lifetime) Damon stainless applied 3/16/20 (after 4 weeks attempting invisalign) On for about 18 months
Night time elastics with invisalign retainers; still...
Double jaw surgery was 6/18/15...
Orthodontics never really ends...
I'm emphatically against extraction orthodontics!

I had an infection after my sarpe. It took a few sets of antibiotics to cure it.
I had this nasty red slime coming out of the wound, and the wound culture showed I had Klebsiella oxycota bacteria in there. Go see a doctor who's an expert in germs and infections. It's gonna be alright. Just take care of it.

Good to know I am not alone. They switched me to another antibiotic. I hope that the swelling goes down now. The oozing seems to have abated.
