Healing fast!

Okay so I had double jaw and genio on May 3rd, about a week and a half ago. Surgery went great! I was in great spirits, and ready to get on with my recovery! My swelling has gone way down already, I'm off the hard drugs, and my mouth opens the two finger width ALREADY. I don't have any jaw pain at all and feel like I'm recovering super fast... which is amazing, except for the whole not chewing thing which sucksssss. I'm just wondering, could my jaw just be healing super fast? And MAYBE I will be able to be back to chewing and get these braces off sooner?? Blind hope, but just wondering if anyone else just recovered super fast as well?

There were some people who said they were healing really fast (painless, able to open well, felt like they were able to chew) and as such didn't follow the surgeon's recommendations and started chewing stuff that was too advanced for them, etc. Long story short, they had to have the surgeon go back in because the bone didn't heal correctly. That's great that your soft tissues are healing up nicely and painlessly, but I'd caution that the bone still takes 8-12 weeks to heal regardless, so don't push it Good luck and glad your recovery's going smoothly!

I also had my surgery on may 3rd and also felt surprisingly good in the week or so after surgery....nearly a fortnight later the real misery is hitting think it's a mix of the feeling starting to come back into my lower lip and chin (the worst part is feeling just how much the brace hooks have been ripping into the soft tissues inside my mouth!) and the real food withdrawals starting to kick in - desperate to get out the house the other day I went to the cinema and made the mistake of walking past a five guys, oh the torture

Seems like the 2nd week worse than the first. Seems like healing going so slow. I'm very weak, maybe from losing weight. The doctor said I'd be weak for a month. Anybody else have that too?
