Yawning while wired shut

#1 Post by SamBracingForIt »

So, I know yawning can be such a mental thing... like it's impossible to think about yawning without physically yawning. My psych professor in high school used to write the word "YAWN" on the blackboard every day, and a lot of yawning would ensue... Anyway, I am 10 days post op from double jaw surgery, lefort 1 impaction, ivro, and sliding genio, and my jaw is wired shut, but i've been having the urge to yawn quite a lot... I'm sure part of it is mental, but now I dread it so much. I try to keep my teeth clenched, but I'm convinced I'm pulling my teeth out or I'm pulling my top jaw (that's been impacted) down. Did anybody else struggle with this? Specifically anybody wired shut? I'm so worried I'm messing everything up each time it happens!!

OMG y'all. Now I've been reading about fibrous unions/nonunions, and I'm convinced my yawning has damaged the plates and is going to cause this

I had double jaw surgery in october of 2017. Yawning was so weird and i hated it but i never felt i was doing any damage to anything. I was not wired though. I was HEAVILY wired shut.

Call or email your surgeon anyways.
