Loss of taste and smell 8 weeks post-op

I had a BSSO and LeFort 1 done on May 11th. For the most part, my recovery has been fine, but in the past week, I've noticed that I can't taste or smell much of anything on the left side of my face. My surgeon is surprised that this happened so late in the recovery, but he thinks it might be a hematoma pressing on the nerve. He's told me to keep an eye on it for the next two weeks to see if it recovers.

Anyone else have this happen to them? I can still taste and smell on my right side, but it's more than a little inconvenient since everything tastes less delicious.

I've had an unusually strong sense of smell since surgery, I assumed because of hunger! Hope it worked out for you -
