You lot are leading me into temptation, do you realise that? I'd vowed not to ask about likely surgery dates at least until after the summer, and now I'm starting to think I could perhaps just ask after all...

Oh and I've eaten a curlywurly with braces as well, plus those soft toffees with a hazelnut in the middle (the ones in the purple wrapper). Yum. Perhaps it's just as well I can only indulge once or twice a year (being unable to get them in Germany).

Returning, more or less, to the topic: I don't hold out much hope of my ortho being impressed by a race or producing a wonder weapon. He belongs very firmly to the slow and cautious school of thought :)

I really want a curly wurl now! I can't help but keep going off topic when it comes to food  But I just can't find them anywhere, which is odd. The Rose I really want is just too hard for me, and so far with braces I've been able to eat pretty much everything. But the hard caramel just defeats me (and especially now my teeth are still painful from the springs and steel wires). I love the golden barrels too though, and I can eat them just fine. But if I am ready for December I guess I'll have to blend them into some sort of milkshake concotion. That will either be gorgeous or disgustingly sickly... Do Americans get curly wurlys or Cadburys? I've always heard your chocolate isn't nice. Do you even have custard?
I'm feeling very patriotic right now

But anyway :?

archangel689- good point! This doesn't really show my relationship with my ortho in a good light really, because I just never believe what she tells me lately. I've been ready for surgery 'in about 6 months' for about a year now. Once I have the moulds done I will take that as my answer :)

sauerkraut- you never know, your ortho might be spurred on by the competition :)

Grrrrrrrrr no.....my surgeon (who was ill for two weeks so didnt do my consult and I saw another person) won't even give me a provisional date as basically he doesn't trust the opinion of his colleague and wants to see me himself - which I can understand - but - it means I have to take yet another half day off work, and that the previous appointment (where I had to sit there for an hour and a half to wait) was a complete waste of time.

Hopefully should get it on Thursday - but it is dependant as to whether he continues the power trip and decides that my OD is wrong and that I should wait longer. I've asked my dad to come with me to hold me back in case I totally lose it lol!!

CB I have some inside info on curly wurlys - there is a Cadburys outlet store in Portsmouth....I got 10, yes 10 curly wurlys for about £2. I jumped for joy lol xx

Oh well. I think surgeons are just too laid back about these things and don't realise it's important- and good- for us to know exactly where we stand

I'm still not totally sure my surgery will be in December. It's never definitve with my ortho, so I'm always anxious when I go that she doesn't change her mind!

Just love the choccies pic, CB! I'm off to England in a couple of weeks so I can stock up :)

I had my adjustment appt yesterday, and did sort of tentatively ask when I'm likely to need my next appt to see the surgeon. It's not quite the same thing as "how long until surgery?" so I kept my vow not to ask that question until after the summer

Anyway, as I might have guessed it was a very vague, "Oh, not until everything's ready. We've got these gaps to close first" kind of answer, so I'm still none the wiser. I suppose to be fair he can't really predict how quickly the gaps will close though he did say they're making good progress. When the technician tightened the springs she kept asking if it was too much pressure (funny, she's not usually so concerned!) so I was going "No, no, that's just fine!!" Anything to keep things moving!! I can feel it a bit today but nothing like as bad as when the springs were first fitted, along with a whole load of other stuff, and I was back to soft food for a week.

Oh well, I shall cheer the rest of you on from the sidelines and maybe join a thread next year for people hoping for surgery by the end of 2010 :)

Nevermind sauerkraut- I'm still waiting for my gap to close too, so perhaps 2009 isn't out of the question yet (unless of course my ortho changes her mind and tells me I won't be ready for Dec either, that is!). Just enjoy our lovely chocolates when you get to England and take your mind off it by basking in our glorious weather! (well, maybe not. It's been pouring it down recently  )

Sammi- I'm offically jealous of you. You're disowned from this thread. Goodbye

CB - I shed a small tear when you said that - and I was just about to offer to send you some cut price curly wurlys lol!!

Esoteric - That's so cool - we can compare detailed notes!! Are you having BSSO too?? :P

I am very excited about having the operation, but a little sad today as had to hand my notice in at work up in London because of it (can't afford to take the time off as it leaves them in difficult position) as its obviously a little tricky to give a timescale as to when I will be back to work full time. They were very nice though and basically still have my job if I want it once I am back on my feet!

I'm having the upper maxilla impacted, and the bottom jaw isn't the sagittal split but the vertical cut. I think it's IVRO

Actually my surgeon and ortho say that I am ready right now and could have surgery anytime after the plan gets drawn up. The only reason it is going to be in sept is because I have vacation obligations going on :D .

So from a time line perspective it went from Sarpe in sept 08, then braced, then ready for surgery right about now. So in under a year basically which I'm kinda ecstatic about. Time flies.
