For some of us, this was purely a functional choice, and if there are some aesthetic benefits, so be it. Personally, 4 days post-op, the way I feel right now would not have been worth it solely for vanity.[/quote]
I agree with Broadway Bill. I had a BSSO because otherwise I was at long term risk of losing my back teeth due to jaw misalignment. There's no way I would have had orthognathic surgery if my dentist, orthodontist and two surgeons hadn't all said I would need it.
As far as genioplasty, yes, that's a cosmetic thing. But it's also not anything like as complicated as orthognathic surgery.
