insurance denied coverage due to age

My parents had BCBS when I was a teenager and they denied coverage of the surgery because it was "cosmetic" even though it is obviously not, since I have never in my life been able to bite normally (6mm open bite). I am 27 now and finally getting the process started thanks to the military, hope it works out for those of you fighting the insurance companies!

Jaime, are you still on this forum? I was just denied for the same reason (older than age 19) and I want to know if the appeal could work.
