So they gave me some anti-histamine medication called Brevet. Basically pseudo-ephedrine. Yeah, made my heart race to 140 reseting. No more of that stuff. When away on its own, but was a bit freaky when i noticed my heart rate slowly starting to climb.
Outta here in an hour. I'm sooooo hungry

Eating is going OK. Using syringes and zip-n-squeeze. Im getting quite a bit of indegestion from from the liquid diets.
Id say my biggest problem right now is clearing secretions from my my mouth since I'm wired. I'm only able to breathe out of one nostril cause the other one is clogged up, and breathing through my mouth just causes more secretions. So its a catch 22, I loose my breath if i exert too much.
I was using the suction in the hospital the whole time which was a god send, but im left to a bulb syringe at home which doesnt do the job quite as well.

My surgery is June 28. The reason for the large advancement is to treat sleep apnea by making my airway larger. No bone graft on the lower jaw but I will need a bone graft on the upper jaw to fill the gap. My surgeon uses graft material from a bone bank which comes from cadavers. Kind of creepy but I'm OK with it.

Chefflaco,
That is pretty creepy. But if it's what needs to be done, so be it. The thing is you just need to trust the surgeon. I always hated not being in control, but this is one of those situations where its gonna be out of your hands. As long as youre ok with, thats even better!
As for the surgery, I'm doing well. Lost a little bit of weight already, but maintaining what I have with my daily meals (boost, pureed soup, protein, apple sauce, rice cereal). I'm taking my prednisone religiously when I'm supposed to, to help with the swelling. I know its helping, but the swelling is still there. I think its peaking now, so it can only get better. I'm still taking my narcotic pain killer as well as childrens tylenol. Helps with the edge and swelling, as well as keeping me calm when I start to get clogged.
My biggest thing for me is breathing. I only have one nostril that is working, and one side of my mouth that I can use (thank god both on the same side). So when either one or both start to clog up with secretions or mucous, it starts to creep me out and I try everything I can to clear it out.
For my mouth i'm using a large syringe filled with water and a rubber tip on the end to help drink. Usually does the job for clearing my throat. As for my nose, Afrin is my best friend. The OS recommended it, and I headed it well. After a few sprits, my nose starts to clear up and i can get some of the chunks of blood clots out to help me breathe. I cant blow hard, but slow, steady puffs eventually worked their way out.
It can only get better, right?
My girlfriend is getting exhausted, but seems to be handling it well. Its a challenge, but shes very understanding ans supportive. Makes everything 1000xs easier.

Oh yeah mountaingirl,
The night before my surgery we went out to the steak house, and enjoyed my last 10 ounce fillet I will be eating in a LONG time. It was worth it. Eat whatever you can, while you still can
Its no fun learning how to eat all over again lol.
