Renden,

You're lookin' GREAT, m8! Now give us a pic with that winning smile, why don't you?

Hope you're happy with your result. I think you should be!

Yes, Renden, a real SMILE! We would like to see.

Of course, if your personality prohibits it, we'll take your word for it that you actually can produce one! :-#)

It's interesting too that, IMO, the surgery makes you look younger. I'm not exactly why that is.
Nov 1960: born
1973 ?: palate expander
1973-1977: braces
Aug 1981: Le Fort I, posterior impaction to correct anterior open bite and class II malocclusion
Aug 2007: braces again to correct various alignment issues and class II malocclusion

Renden, your profile looks really good, they have done a good job for you. I am assuming you are being treated at the Southern General. I had my jaws done 18 years ago at Canniesburn when I was just 17 years old, a le fort 1 bimaxillary osteotomy and a mandiular sagital split with bone grafts. Back then they wired your jaws together for 6 weeks. It is amazing how inventive you can be with liquid foods and although it wasn't exactly a good idea as I couldn't be sick with jaws wired together (I'd choke to death!!!!) I went out with friends to the pub and had a drink even when I was swollen and wired up! Trust me, get out and do things if you can, it makes it go much easier.

Also it makes a massive change to your confidence, eventualy you will realise that people aren't staring anymore. I went from 17 years of bullying to mad partying for about 10 years after the op, it was great. This time next year it will be a distant memory for you and your life will be even better, trust me. 18 years on and I don't regret having it done at all. Hang in there, it really will go by quickly.
