LOL! Nasty. Especially since I've seen a placenta fairly recently the image isn't pretty.
Glad to hear you're managing and that you have great help at home.
I think I will cook a roast beef dinner with yorkshire puddings then have some Doritos for dessert. That will be my treat pre-surgery. Doritos are nuclear waste, but a couple times a year can't hurt.

Haha go for it! I know I'd snatch that up in a heartbeat if I could!

I'm doing as well I guess I could be. I had a little mini-break down earlier tonight. I was just getting tired of a bunch of things added together. Can't breathe properly, sleeping problems, pain that comes and goes, being so hungry, bathroom problem, etc. Thank god my other half was here to help me, i got through it and now going to watch a movie. God, I cant wait to brush my teeth again!!!!

Yeah, the first few days are HELL, after that it steadily gets better. Mornings are the roughest since thats when Im the most swollen cause i usually end up falling over to sleep, (I try to sleep sitting up but almost always plop over at night) and you don't move at all.
I go for my first post-op follow up and my surgeons office tomorrow. I'm so excited, cant wait to see what the xrays show!! Also, I hope I get unwired lol.

So, I went to the surgeon's office today for my first post-op followup. Let me tell you about my interesting experience.
I came, it, they did a full panoramic x-ray to see how everything looked. The surgeon then came in and said everything looks amazing for 1 week post-op. He was very pleased. (what a huge relief) He then proceded to untie my wires and remove the splint.
A few snips, a little twisting and eventually my jaw was free. I was a bit scared at first since I didnt know what to expect or how it was going to feel. Well, let me tell you, it was a bit painful. Since I havent used my jaw muscles in a week, they atrophied (got smaller) and are much weaker. Also, they are in a new position, and need to get used to their new movements. So when he took the wire off, my jaw muscles went into an instant spamism. Like a charlie horse in your jaw. OUWWWW. He kept coaching me to keep opening and closing it to work the cramp out. It eventually went away, but was still sore.
SO here comes the worse part.
Since I had an impaction of the maxilla, he had to remove some cartiledge below my nose to compensate and keep my septum from buckling when he moved the jaw up. Don't forget though, that you get nasally intubated when youre being worked on. So the breathing tube pushed over on my septum during the surgery and made it deviated. My surgeon was hoping that it would return to normal within the week following surgery since it was only like that for a short period of time, so he didnt mess with it. Well, it didnt fix itself. So he had to today.
Basically, he had to push my septum straight again. He took an instrument, which I liken to an overrated butterknife looking device, put it on my septum until it poped over. I heard a "crunch" and it was straight again. Let me tell you, it was THE WORST PAIN I have ever consciously experienced IN MY LIFE. It was so bad, that they had to close the office doors ahead of time just in case i started to scream. He then took some dental packing, and put a roll of it in my nose with antibiotic ointment to use as a "splint" to make sure it doesnt go crooked again. I have to leave this thing in for a week. This thing was just as painful as the first part!! I was in tears afterward. They gave me a pretty strong pain killer afterward, and my girlfriend had to drive home since I was still shaking from everything an hour later.
I now have two rubber bands on that I have to wear 12 hours on, 12 hours off so help my jaw close forward. Helps train my muscles.
So everything went well, aside from the mini-nosejob. Here's a word to the wise... If they need to do any kind of septal straightening procedure in your post-op followup, and you are aware of this ahead of time. Load yourself up on pain meds ahead of time. I, was not so lucky.

Ok guys. Here I am on the other side. The doctor said everything went well. I feel like total crap right now though so I post a detailed message later. OMG the swelling is so bad!! And the head pressure! And I'm staaaarving. I'm still trying to figure out what drugs I like that won't make me too wonky.
Ugh, need rest.

It is great to hear you made it. 2 more days for me. I was pretty stressed out 2 days ago but today I am pretty relaxed. I am ready to get this over with.
