Re: July 2013 Buddies
Rio- sorry to hear that your swelling is causing discomfort. YOu must have 'peaked' by now so hopefully you'll see a gradual improvement from now on.
Re: July 2013 Buddies
I'm very sorry to hear that ReoSity. I'm sure you're using a jaw bra, but if you're not already using an ice eye maks, try to get one of those. My Dr. said the ice wasn't as important after the first 48 hours, but maybe it will help with your abnormal swelling and, at the very least, significantly lessen the discomfort. I hope your doctor is being helpful with suggestions. Keep your head up (literally!). I hope you heal quickly and feel much better soon.
I'm still swearing by great nutrition while healing, too. I have, of course, lost some weight, but I think the fresh cold pressed veggie juices and almond milks mixed with protein powder are making a big difference in my body's ability to heal. I'm also eating almost entirely organic. Even when I snack on ice cream, it's locally made and organic. Lots and lots of hubby-prepared pureed veggie soups, too, and my dad sent over some snacks like mashed potatoes (not exactly brimming with nutrients but I was worried about weight loss then) and homemade lox spread for some animal protein. My husband just suggested going to a local restaurant tonight that's all humane and organic for soup and some steak or tuna tartar. I still have some swelling, but now it actually mostly looks like I just had too much collegen injected into my upper lip, which, in LA is hardly unusual. I definitely have swelling in my cheeks and nose, but if you didn't know me, you wouldn't be able to tell. I can feel it because it's quite tender and when I wake up in the middle of the night, my whole face feels sore.
My struggle now is mostly emotional. I'm having a very hard time feeling weak and useless - again, it's very hard on my mood being unable to smile or laugh. My husband went on a long mountain bike training ride this morning and I got winded walking the dogs. I got an indoor trainer and I'm going to start spinning my legs out this afternoon. Even if I start feeling warning signs of overexertion and have to stop after only 10 minutes, I think it will help me feel more like myself. I'm looking forward to my next dr appointment on Thursday - I know I can't risk hitting my face for a while still but I'm hoping I get a good report and permission to up my indoor training!
