Best of luck Phil. Let's hope that your OS has the solution this time.
My pre-op is tomorrow as well. We will have our last talk and I will get all my prescriptions so I can get them filled. I will also have the joy of handing over a VERY LARGE check since my insurance is paying for NONE of this.
I will also be going to the OD to get the surgical hooks attached. I'm sure he will have something to say about my decision to have the IVO and be wired instead of the BSSO, but since it isn't his face and mouth I'll just let him have his say and then go away knowing that I made the right decision for myself.
I did the last of my grocery shopping today, most of which was for my caregivers who I am sure will not want to eat the food that I will be eating. I haven't done any advanced cooking like Phil did, but then again, my Maman will be here with me and I'm sure she will take care of that for me.
I am so ready to get this thing started and to be on the other side of it already.

Wow somehow my comp got a lil haywire wit the posts...whats up wit that? Anyway....7 days out..so close but yet so far...When i do my pre-op stuff on Wednesday I'll feel like I've jumped a big hurdle!!!! Finals are over on the 14th for me and I cant wait to go back to my hometown for the weekend. Unfortunately there will be no last minute partying since i cant drink 72 hours before my surgery.
Thanks all, for the well wishes. I'm going to keep taking the Sudafed through tonight, at least. That will give my system more than 24 hours to clear it out before surgery, and gives me a better chance of having somewhat clear sinuses going in, although they are RARELY clear this time of year!
My job tonight will be to blend breakfast for the first week. I'm planning on doing McCann's Irish Oatmeal from Trader Joe's--cooked with milk, butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. Blend it up, run it through a sieve, and it will be good to go!
I'll have all sorts of information to post when I get home from my consult this afternoon. I'll even have a new bit of holiday BLING in my mouth--SURGICAL HOOKS!

As one who is busy before hand, I disagree wholeheartedly. I would like an extra week to finish everything, rather than such a concrete deadline for when it must all be done!!
In other news, woke up with a sore throat, which I am PISSED about because 1) compared to most years, hell, compared to the last three years of law school, I'm sleeping a lot. at least 7 hour a night. WHY does this lead to run down? I don't get it. 2) Since deadline is concrete, even if I am well enough for surgery it means I have to do all my finals feeling icky. That annoys.
I did the whole pay with big check last week. My OS was a real sweetheart about it.. I was calling for several weeks in advance of my Nov 26th appt to ask when the money was due so I could arrange the transfer between accounts, blah blah, which takes time because it's two different banks, and they didn't bother to return my calls... then I show up day of, they torture me with molds etc. and then they're "Yes, your total is $14,584 and we're going to go ahead and collect that today."
Like hell you are! How about giving a girl some warning, eh? It's very nice of them to think that a law student has a 15K limit on the credit card, but it's just not realistic. Then they sent a "nice" email the next day about how I needed to have payment in by the end of the week and wouldn't it be such a tragedy if they had to cancel my surgery date!!
Needless to say a standoff followed and fortunately no one was hurt. I've had problems in the past with the insurance/admin people at my OS's office (a wisdom tooth out in March that they continually and rudely insisted I owned them a thousand bucks for, but when they finally did the correct insurance papers it came down to 40 dollars) but this was absolutely unbelievable. I considered walking in July because his admin staff, and I would have if I didn't like the surgeon so much.

Its nice to here things are goin good for every...Worry about finances have to suck at a time like this...I got lucky since I'm still a military dependent I have no out of pocket expense related to the surgery procedure itself. And luckily I qualify for paid medical leave from my job....Its not as much as my usual income but its better then nothin....the weather here is still being funky
I'll be glad for Wednesday to hurry up and get here so I can get all my pre op stuff done. Then I get my surgical hooks on Thursday.

Had the final pre-op appointments today and here's the update.
OD - my regular OD was not in so his very pleasant partner did the final work. This was good because I was totally expecting to get a lecture on choosing the IVO procedure. Turns out I only needed two surgical hooks attached at the midline. I don't know if this is different from other folks but I'm in speed braces and so I have lots of little hooks (they look at bit like mushrooms to me) on most of the brackets so they can just use those. My OD was so wonderful about torquiing the two hooks back as far as he could so I cannot even feel them at all.
He then went on to say that Dr. D. (my regular OD) generally will want to see me every week while I'm wire. When I asked why since he had already said that no adjustments will take place until the wires come off, he said that they just like to monitor things. I accused them of simply wanting to rubberneck the train wreck and he laughed and admitted that was probably about right.
OS - I have to say I love this guy. He spent a ton of time showing me his models and the splint he has made. It will be wired into the palatt for 6-8 weeks. The widening of the upper will be about 5mm. He will also cant the jaw just slightly so that I show more tooth when I smile. He has also decided to move the upper forward about 1.5mm (and maybe as much as 2mm). The soft tissue can support the move and it will help balance things out.
He will then do a genio wherein he raise and reduce the chin. This will shorten the measurement between the lower lip and the chin which it turns out is slightly larger than it should be.
Finally, the IVO will move the lower jaw back about 3mm (maybe 4). This will leave me with an overjet of about 1to 1.5mm which will give them room to finish uprighting the bottom teeth. Turns out that i have enough points of contact so I will not have to have the more obnoxious splint that positions the teeth, just the one on the palatte. YEAH!
He ws so funny because he admitted that he saw my OD last week at a holiday open house and he sort of forgot, on purpose, not to tell him he was doing and IVO. However, he promised he would tell him after it was done. We had a good laugh about him being a coward. However, we both think I made the right decision on the IVO, but we know the OD needs to have his say. He really is an amazing OD, but has to have his say.
OD also said how impressed he was that the OD had spouted off numbers of movement that should be made during their last meeting, without the benefit of any impressions, and when the OS actually did the mock ups it turns out the OD was absolutly correct. I guess the 30 years he has been doing this makes him really good at eyeballing things.
Only concern was that I was at the very bottom of normal on my hematicrit so they will have to monitor that post op. Otherwise, all is well and we are ready to go.
I walked out of the office with a ton of scrips. (I may need to detox when this is done). The liquid demerol turns out to be a special order, but they can get it by Wednesday morning. I'm a bit concerned about stomach upset from all these meds, but will do the best I can. Had the doctor give me a Rx for phenegran just in case.
Now, its time to finish up the stuff at work and give the house a good cleaning. Other than that, I'm as ready as I can get.

I would like to join your December club. My surgury is Dec. 20th. Not only am I suffering the X-mas bummer but X-mas is also my Birthday. My present to myself is getting my lower jaw broken and moved 7mm.
I'm with you on the drinks after narcotics. I have a friend who is currently working on a Rumball smoothy drink minus the ball!!
Hey Arvensis, do you have any friends willing to search people for cameras? My husband is frisking anyone for camera and or cell phones with cameras.
I have my splint now to retrain my jaw muscles. It turns out I've been posturing with my jaw for years and that's why prevoious docs never caught that I needed surgury. Was a pain at first now I'm used to it.
I also got a lovely set of hooks matching top and bottom for a grand total of eight. Right now they are saying I'm wired shut for 6-8 weeks.
I also have to go back to work on the 2nd. One of the professors I work with is loving the idea that I won't be able to yell at him. I told him I was comming back armed with a megaphone and a nerf gun. Think that might work with your negosiations.
My pre-op with the OS is tomarrow and Wed. I meet with the anesthesiologist. I would love to share nutritional info. I'm most concened about not getting enough os something and having problems.
