My pain is definitively better in the last 24 hrs... I'm a little scared since last time it came back with a punch but hopefully there won't be any setbacks this time! I'm still taking the roxicet every 4hrs but the last hour isn't one of couting minutes til I can take it again and I've started lowering the dose.
I still don't really feel like eating - it's weird cause my stomach will growl so I know my BODY is hungry, however I'd rather take a nap than figure something to eat. Except when a friend brings me a shake! I think I will give myself a challenge and try all the shake flavors at CheeburgerCheeburger lol..
Follow up appointment is tomorrow, let's hope everything is shaping up the way it should!
Side questions... any of you guys have pets? When did you start trusting yourself to walk the dog, let the cat hang on the couch with you, etc? My dog "escaped" his leash this morning and immediately made a run for me on the couch and I almost had a heart attack and pushed him off with my feet I was so scared he was gonna jump for a "kiss"! (we are talking about a 18# terrier here so picture that scene and laugh). My poor cat has been confined to the bathroom for a week now but I'm nervous about him jumping on my head or something...

I still have no real hunger either. Once in a while I will crave anything-soup, smoothie, shake-but the act of eating it just sucks too much to be worth it.
I'm staying at my mom's house, but I requested that she let her cat in the room with me last night. He's "safe" though, because he's really old and doesn't run or jump. I wanted him to keep me company, and he liked my heating pad! I'll probably get him back around tonight for some quality time.
Anyone else having little jaw spam-like things? I've had a few so far, and they sort of freak me out: it's just a little involuntary twitch of my lower jaw, but (obviously) because of the state of things it feels dangerous and extreme. I hope they don't go on long!
And, still, this feeling of crap gunked up heavily on the back of my tongue and throat is one of the worst things so far.can't wait to go in on Thursday and get that taken care of!

Broadway Bill - Glad i wasn't the only one with Jaw spasms! SOO PAINFUL! They only lasted from about day 5 post op to the second week post op.
Cocomecrazy - did your surgeon say it was alright for you to start chewing?
Once it was okay for me to chew the surgeon said as long as it's not really painful, it's fine. As far as opening your mouth wider... it'll take a few days for the muscles and joints to get used to moving again. The first couple of days of me chewing.. it took about an hour to finish a meal. It's still a bit slow to eat after a week but every day I feel progress and can chew a bit faster/open wider.

My surgeon said I can eat anything I can cut with a fork -so soft foods. They said at first it's gonna be hard to open my mouth wide.LeahRuth wrote:Broadway Bill - Glad i wasn't the only one with Jaw spasms! SOO PAINFUL! They only lasted from about day 5 post op to the second week post op.

I'm not chewing right now. My tongue is doing all the work, and I blended my mom's pasta (hah). When I move my jaw though, it hurts my joints :/ did you experience this?

No "spasms" yet... but my chin feels tingly for hours at a time - kinda when your foot is asleep and it's waking up, the feeling is SO annoying. But I guess it means my nerves are trying to do something so I shouldnt complain about it!
Just wondering... how old are you all?
I'm turning 31 in November.

I am the ripe old age of 35.
Yep, I am tingly often too. Especially when I am laying down. My chin and lower lip are both still totally numb. Getting the feeling back in my upper lip luckily. Also, top teeth and roof of mouth are totally numb and the bottom teeth are getting feeling back. My nose was totally numb but is almost all gone but the sides of my nose and the apples of my cheeks are still numb. It is so strange putting face lotion on to a numb face!
How about you guys? How numb are you??

Glad to hear everybody is progressing so nicely!
As for numbness, I think I lucked out overall. Initially, the right side of my face from below the eye to the mouth was numb. This has already come back 100%.
I have absolutely no chin/lower lip numbness...I've been able to feel it just fine since Day 1. I don't know how I got so lucky because this is the area that most people have numbness.
The roof of my mouth and upper teeth were 100% numb. I'd say they are now about 95% numb. However, I get all sorts of "tingles" so I'm expecting this to come back in due time. I got a very weird tingle the other day - It didn't hurt at all but it was like a nerve just woke up and said "I'm alive"!! I'm waiting for it to happen again because it kinda felt cool
Best wishes to all as you continue to march back towards normalcy...

Numbness: mine has been sorta all over the place. I was totally numb for a few days, then my chin and left cheek came back. This morning, swelling and numbness were WAY down. In the last few hours, though, they've come back with a vengeance. Is it relatively common for swelling and numbness to come and go like that? It kinda freaks me out.
My teeth and tongue are nearly totally un-numb now too, which is cool.
The spasms ARE NO FUN, but as I understand it, a lot of people never have the spasms.
I, too, am in my 30s! 31, to be exact.

Yes, your swelling with increase/decrease - sometimes without rhyme or reason. I've noticed it particularly is worse in the morning after you sleep. This is especially true once you're able to sleep normally.
As for age, I was 33 for my first surgery and 35 for the second. They say age is a factor in the numbness, but honestly who knows

You know what's really, really annoying? When the pain meds make you itch somewhere that's numb. What? How can this happen? I feel an itch right below my lower lip, but if I scratch it, I feel nothing at all (except the weird creepy deadness of numb tissue). Anyone else had this?
I'm numb on my cheekbones, a bit numb on my cheeks, totally numb in my lower lip and chin, and numb on the outside bottom of my lower jaw. The inside of my mouth, and the top teeth to the molars on the outside, have normal feeling. It's very odd even without the itching--like, I keep hitting my chin with pillows and such because I don't know where it is yet, and my head moves even though I don't feel the impact. Weirrrrd.
Glad to hear of everyone's progress!
