I can feel the indentations where the jaw was cut and moved forward. Will that eventually fill in after a few years? Random question, I know lol

My understanding is that it will smooth out to some degree over the years but it will never completely flatten out.uneunsae wrote:I can feel the indentations where the jaw was cut and moved forward. Will that eventually fill in after a few years? Random question, I know lol

I was just looking into this. The remodeling of bone takes a few months up to a few years. It's crazy this is happening on my face! I can totally tell where it's healing too because my face is fat in those areas. So cool!

Neat, thanks for sharing that pic.

Oh, another thing I wanted to ask: Did anyone else have hair loss after surgery? My hair is coming out like crazy and my doctor says it's my body being shocked by the surgery. I noticed it over a month after surgery and this information explains why:
"There might be an environmental insult that "shocks" the growing hair follicles so much that they decide to go into a resting state for a while. This results in an increase in hair shedding and a diffuse thinning of hair on the scalp. This form of TE can develop rapidly and may be noticeable one or two months after receiving the shock. If the trigger is short lived, then the hair follicles will return to their growing state and start producing new hair fibers pretty quickly. This form of TE usually lasts less than six months and the affected individual has a normal scalp hair density again within a year." -American Hair Loss Association
Hopefully that's all it is. My doc took blood just to double check everything. It's just a bummer on top of all the other hardships of surgery. Every time my hair falls out I worry that it's permanent. (Over reacting, I know...)

Nope, hair loss is a joy that never visited me. Lol The only physical change I noticed was that my period was late a week once I stopped the painkillers after a month. My cycle came on time right after my surgery which is weird to me that surgery was less traumatic for my body than detoxing off Percocet.

Maybe it's because I was basically under for 3 days. I'm having some short term memory issues because of that, too. Supposedly, this will improve and I really hope so because I am beyond forgetful now. lol
