My ortho allows patients to view progress photos through their website. I just had my post-surgery pictures taken yesterday, so I thought I'd share.

Here are pics from three years ago, when I had just signed up for treatment:

These are from last October, just when they'd decided I was ready for surgery:

Wow, What a dramatic change from three years ago. I absolutely LOOOVE seeing results like this, gives me some much to look forward to.

You look fantastic! That profile is stunning now. What a lovely chin. You look about 10 years younger. Everything is just so harmonized. Congratulations so much KathleenH. I'll be stoked if my results is half as good as yours.

Thanks for showing us the pictures. I have about a month to go (I cant believe im saying that already, justa month!) because they cut me up and rid o my underbite. Seeing others who are now post-op just makes the journey much more positive.

Kathleen,
Thank you for posting these! OMG you look amazing! I'm having BSSO also but no genio done. After seeing your pics I can't wait. Are your friends amazed at your transformation??

Tell me, at 7 months do you still have a lot of numbness? or not very much? I have another friend who is also 7 months post op from having her jaw moved back 5mm. She is thrilled with her results as well but says that her lower chin still feels a bit "thick"

Thanks again! I'm going to take pics like this for my surgery! I think they are so helpful for others to see!

KathleenH,

Those are truly incredible pictures and thank you! I am having lower jaw advancement on 5/09 and it is difficult to remember that there are good things about this.

Your pictures look great!

You didn't get any work done on your chin? This is all due to braces and the jaw surgery?

Kathleen had genio done also. Lower jaw advancement and genio was what she had posted in another thread.

Teigyr, how did your lower jaw advancement go? Was it a long complicated, risky and expensive surgery? And how about any pre or post operative orthodontics work?
Was it a pain in the ass, or would you recommend it??
Who did you go to, if you feel comfortable telling me, and how long has it taken, scheduling, procedure, recovery, healing, how are your teeth??

Could you give me a full rundown, I'd really appreciate it.
Ben

Brandy, or anyone on an advancement

Brandy, how bad were your teeth before?
I saw your blog. Pretty intense orthodontics work! You must of had a great orthodontist.
Would you do it all again if you only knew, or could you have just pulled a tooth or two and then realigned the rest more quickly??

And I posted a reply on your blog, but in case you didn't get it. Will you have to now where a retainer for years and years now to retain your alignment??
For some reason my orthodontist keeps telling me teeth can only be moved slowly, but I've told him I don't mind the pain, and can handle it, just move the teeth!
And I am amazed at some of your pictures! It reconfirms what I had originally thought about how teeth can be moved in a matter of days!!

I tell him I can see the teeth moving, but he tells me that's impossible, it takes way to long, and is too gradual. He tells me it should take two upwards to about two years,, although I really don't even think my teeth are that crooked now!!

They convinced me to pull a tooth on my bottom arch because my arch and bottom palate is pretty small, and the tooth was sticking out.
They said it would be way too hard to get the tooth back into alignment, so it would be better to pull the tooth and then close the smaller gap, alleviating crowding of the others then too, and then I'd have straight teeth on the bottom, and people would hardly notice the missing tooth.

But now I have a pretty sizable overbite in my opinion, so I was thinking about if a quick advancement was feasible.
You know what I mean??

Hey thanks for your contributions to the web world, your blog. It was very informative and well written. I appreciate it and learned a lot.

Advice from you would be great! Because it seems as if you are somewhat of an expert now.
Thank you for your replies!

Ben
