Anyone have Tricare insurance?

#1 Post by jma295psu »

Hey all,

I am new to the board. I am a 21 yr. old female trying to get approval for surgically assisted maxillary expansion. I was just wondering if anyone else out there has any experience with Tricare and getting them to approve this surgery. As of right now, they are saying that it is not medically necessary. The ortho says that the braces are pointless without it because of my upper crowding.

TIA

Jean

Hi! i have tricare and am having surgery in nov. or december. The only reason my surgery is covered is because i'm having it done at a naval hospital. Otherwise i would have had to pay. have you tried to see if Tricare will take a letter from your orthodontist stating why you need the surgery? Good luck to you and hope everything works out. :D
braced 10-11-2005
estimated time 20 months
lower jaw surgery 12-15 months
2nd time in braces
