Four Extractions Today

Had four extractions this morning. Upper bilateral second bicuspids and lower bilateral first bicuspids. Now with some really noticeable gaping holes on the lowers. Sure as heck hope I did the right thing. Obviously no going back now! I have had upper ceramic braces on for three months with some significant leveling and straightening of front six teeth. Very happy with that result so far. The plan is the lower metal brackets go on in two weeks and we start trying to close the "new gaps". Then jaw surgery with advancement of the lower jaw some 7mm plus a 5mm genioplasty for a total of something like 10-12mm. One concern I have is this concept of "first we make things worse then improve it with surgery". So my overbite will become worse as the lower incisors are pulled back to close the gap formed by the removal of the lower bicuspids. I guess I'll just have to jut my jaw forward when I make a big grin to lessen the overbite. Either that or just not smile depending on how self concious I become with this temporary worsening of the overbite prior to surgery. Any comments from anyone how you dealt with this issue? Just grin and bear it? Seems odd, I see an orthodontist for improvement of an overbite and I wind up with worsening prior to the final product. Comments with dealing with this anyone?
