Hi all!
I'm trying to schedule my surgery and need an idea of how long it will take me to return to my everyday activity of singing. I understand that many people are able to go back to work within two weeks--but I am a teacher, so I wonder about range of motion and ability to talk, etc. My surgeon advised me not to plan any major singing events for about two months...but will I be okay to just sing with the kids that I teach???
Thanks for your help!!!
Lower Jaw Surgery--When will I be able to sing???

It's almost here!
My surgery is scheduled for next Tuesday. My orhto said I was ready a few months ago, but scheduling all the visits with the surgeon was a nightmare. At least I'm having it a time when I don't have any singing engagements lined up. Needless to say, I'm anxious to get it over with!
The latest thing is that the surgeon's office has not been especially communicative during this process. I was looking for a piece of paper they gave me on my last visit and saw that I needed to get the results of a physical and blood tests to them this week! There was never any verbal mention of any of this! I know it's probably my own stupid fault for not reading what looked to be a piece of scrap paper--but this isn't the only thing I've been 'surprised' by. Luckily, my doc can see me today and I can send over the info in the knick of time. Whew! I guess I would be a little more apprehensive about using this particular surgeon if he wasn't one of the best in the area...
So, surgery on May 22. Then I just have to work on getting my braces off in time for my wedding on September 29! Four months should be enough time, right???
Just wanted to share what's coming up. I'll be sure to post my post-op experiences and pics!
Thanks, everyone, for 'listening!'
