Day 2 - Post-Op

Hi All -
Thank you Meryaten for letting our friends on this forum know I was feeling pretty good.
I had my first appointment with my surgeon post-op which seemed a little soon to me having just got out of the hospital yesterday! Anyway, long story short, I'm doing well and he took the elastics out today. I haven't been taking pain meds since they make me nauseated so today I drove myself to this appointment. This was dumb but I felt like being on my own and away from my nurse hubby for a while. I'm a little tired but made it just fine.
Yesterday I looked like Don Corleon and today I look worse - more like Deputy Dog. But thank heavens I'm able to eat soups and even crackers. Think I've been lucky. One thing I was told is if you can while in the hospital, try to take a walk - it really helps to get your blood moving and the more you can tolerate doing sooner - helps ten-fold later in recovery. I took a walk around the hall a few hours post-op (with the steady hand of a nurse by my side) but later when I got up to use the bathroom the room whirled - so just take it one step at a time.
I don't have what can be described as "pain" per se but discomfort mainly from the swelling I think and a slight sore throat. All in all, darn lucky I'd say - hope the recovery continues to be this smooth. I'll keep you posted - and thanks so much for all your kind support. This forum is the best!
