hi everybody!

just coming home from surgeon/orthodontist...

first of all, it came out, that my right jaw bone has stopped growing(i have jaw-asymetry because right bone grew tore then left)... thats such a reliefe!!!!

and it seems like surgery will be performed in one or two weeks, if everything works out, lets say, 95% for surgery. yey!;)
then ill have to wear braces for 2 and a half months.
there is an asymetry of 13mm(!!) in my jaw, which will be corrected by placing the upper jaw in right position, and shortening/ putting my right jaw higher, and lengthening/putting my left jaw lower.

it seems to me, that 13mm are quite a lot, no?

in fact, to have my jaws really perfect, i would have to have SARPE on lower AND upper jaw, but as it doesnt cause me real problems(minimal crowding from lower teeth), and cant do it because of working, time, and cost reasons, ill have to leave that out for now.

i just want the asymetry and pain gone, thats more then enough for now!;)

Congratulations on your news, im having my surgery in just over 2 weeks (11th feb)

my bite is off by 14mm, but this is a overjet not an asymetry issue.

my surgery is going to be just some days around my birthday, so instead of taking a trip to USA, im gonna have to lie in hospital!!! and guess what? im happy about it!
finally the pain will be gone(well, after a while after surgery ), and hopefully there will be some improvement of my looks too! i wouldnt mind that..
but i guess with 13mm there must be some visible change in appearance, does anybody know something about that? i mean, if changes are visible after this amount of adjustment? i know it differs from person to person, but maybe somone can tell if 13mm are rather a lot or little.

I had BSSO for lower jaw asymmetry, too. My jaw was moved 5mm on each side and I can surely tell the difference! 13mm is half an inch, so I think that's a lot when you're talking about your jaw placement.

Congratulations on getting started on the process of building a symmetrical smile. That is wonderful news! ....And such a short brace sentencing, too! Lucky!

Hi Helen, unfortunately i dont know the exact link, because i was surfing around hours looking for facial asymmetry infos that day, but here is another one ive found right now, its quite similar:

but actually i dont take that too serious, i find there are very attractive persons who even because of their asymmetry look special, interesting..
but there are also persons with symetric faces, which look very harmonic, but symetry can also get boring, so...
was just curious about your opinions!;)
