Effects on airway size

#1 Post by Von »

Today, while i was searching for info about the effects of lower jaw setback on the airway size,i found some interesting things. The lower jaw advancement, opens the airway size,so many times it is easier for patient to breathe. But lower jaw setback does the opposite. The airway size gets smaller,so it is more difficult for the patient to breathe. When is reqyired setback more than 10mm,it is better to have also maxillary advancement so the airawy size dont get very small. That is what i read. And i didnt like it at all.Because for me,the doctors said the upper jaw is ok and only the lower is need to be moved. But the setback i need is big.12-15mm i think. For years i was thinking that i need lower jaw surgery only. Now i will have to think again about to have or not the surgery,i don't want upper jaw operated :(
