Convalescent leave

#1 Post by Rebelda »

This is for those in the military, particularly Navy personnel:

How many days were you granted for convalescent leave?
I will be having double jaw surgery (3 piece lefort and mandibular setback).

My office does surgery on a lot of MMSO (military) patients, and in our experience, they'll give you as much time as the letter we give the patient asks for! Ask your doctor to write a letter, on letterhead, detailing what you can and cannot do and why with time limits included. I'd definately have it all squared away before surgery! Sorry I can't be of more help than that!

I don't know, but if what said Luella is right, you should ask for a bit more than you think you need. If you don't need it - great go back early, if you do need more time it will be one less thing to worry about. Good luck.

I'm in the AF. They gave me three weeks of convalescent leave, and I was on a waiver for two months. I needed all three weeks, too. I didn't leave the house at all until the beginning of my third week. I wasn't in a ton of pain or anything, but the swelling was pretty hideous for me.
