Hi all! I will attempt to post photos with this post, but it they don't come out, you can see them at my blgo:

I'm really happy with my new bite! I had upper jaw (LeForte I, one piece) 5 weeks ago. My bite has always been anterior open, but became much moreso in the last year, due to joint degeneration. It is now better than it has ever been. I am very pleased

Well for some reason, I can't get the "after" picture to load, but go to the blog and see it if you like. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.[/img]

Horray onion ring time!!!:)
Your pictures look AMAZING!! Your original bite reminds me quite a bit of mine once they got ready for surgery - only back molars touching, open bite in the front.

Wow, looks fantastic and I can totally relate. I also has a "huge" anterior open bite. I'm now brace free and still nicely "scissored". Feels wonderful doesn't it???? Congrats and enjoy your nice results.

Thanks for your posts!!
Actually, Andi, I was not in braces this time around. Had them when I was a teenager, and they pretty much straightened everything out.
My current anterior open bite (actually now "former anterior open bite") began 3 years ago, when I started having joint degeneration which shifted my bite that far in a matter of months.
What I had on my teeth were these things called arch bars, which they use for people who aren't in braces. They are attached to the base of each tooth with metal twisty ties (read: torture devices for the inside of your lips/cheeks
). They were applied under anesthesia just before surgery, and I was put under again to have them removed. I wouldn't recommend them.
I just saw the OS yesterday and he is very pleased with everything.
But he said it would be 5-6 months before I get any feeling back in my upper gums and palate
I somehow missed that info. during my exhaustive preparation for surgery! I remember him saying some numbness and swelling for 3 months - which is true for my face, which is almost not numb anymore. But my upper gums/roof of my mouth are completely numb. It is usually no problem but I sometimes it is a difficult to swallow pills because I lose them against the roof of my mouth.
Does anyone else have experience about when the feeling returns to gums/roof after upper (LeForte I one-piece) surgery?
