I am about 6 weeks post op, and although its getting better, I am still numb along my chin. Also my ROM isnt very good. Its not even 2 finger widths yet. I have been doing my exercises but wake up extrememly stiff in the mornings. Dr. says its the muscles and not the jaw bone itself. Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

I was quite numb for several months, so don't worry. Be patient. It's been over a year since my surgery, and I still have one little numb spot on my lip. So i'm guessing it's permanent, at this point.

I had surgery April 30th... dunno how many weeks that is and i'm feeling pretty lazy so I dont wanna do the math, haha.
I have some very odd sensations though... I can pretty much feel my lip just fine now but it just doesn't feel quite right. If I wiggle my tongue back and forth really fast it tingles... dont ask how I figured this out because I dont know. The strangest thing is when I drink any sort of liquids (especially cold) I get a sensation that the liquid is running down my chin. First few times I was like wow I am spilling a lot... but I slowly figured out that I was not spilling at all I just get the sensation that I am. Its really annoying but not a big deal. I will be glad when its gone though I am tired of thinking i have stuff running down my chin, haha

Heh, I am still getting that at nearly 11 months post-op. I have become a napkin freak! Every mouthful, pat pat pat, because it feels like there's something running down my chin. There hardly ever is. People must think I am really polite

Im getting that weird running down my chin feeling too, am guessing as anoying as it is, that it must be a good sign.

Wow, that is so true! I feel the tingling too, sometimes stronger than others. I also have become quite the napkin freak too, and yes hardly ever anything there. I was told it was a very good sign that the feeling is coming back, but that everyone is diff and each nerve acts different. They even had someone come out of surgery and have feeling almost right away. Just wish sometimes all mine was back! Good luck to all

You are lucky that it didn't affect your lip! I'm 3 weeks out and when I have the sensation that something is running down my chin, I'm usually right!
I do have tingles all the time and pangs in my chin where the implant was removed so I take that as a good sign. My ROM is pretty good, so that's a blessing.

Well at least i am not the only one that gets that feeling on my chin, lol. Makes me feel like part of some really exclusive chin dripping sensation club, haha. Actually when I first came out of surgery I could feel everything. The next day my left half of my lip and parts of chin were numb, right side is perfect i've never lost any feeling in that part. The left side has slowly gotten better and better. I take a vit. B complex everyday because its supposed to help with nerves and I make funny faces a lot to try and stretch things out and 'force' feeling back into it. Probably does not do anything but i do it anyway.

Three weeks post op here. I had upper/lower/genio.
Lower advancement: I am still a little numb along my left lower jaw. Both sides get more numb the closer you get to my chin.
Genio: My chin is almost completely numb, but I am starting to feel lots of "electricity" there and am very happy about that. The lips are mostly numb but I can feel things on the tips. My gums and the inside of my mouth/lips are completely numb. It's a weird feeling having numb gums.
From the LeFort I: My right cheek/nose area is more numb than my left, but both sides are numb all the way up to my eye. This feels freaky when washing your face or applying makeup there.
There is a product called NerveFix that I bought off Amazon, and I think it's helped a lot. Before I started taking it, the tingles weren't as strong or as often. But that could be coincidence.

I am 11 months post-op and I still have one small spot on the left side of my bottom lip that still has a weird feeling to it. It's not a tingling feeling anymore, and it's not numb as in I can't feel anything. It just feels funny when I touch it, kind of like how your lips feel when they're chapped from the sun or wind. Don't worry about your numbness or ROM. It just takes time for everything to heel.

My third surgery was in December. Just now I have finally regained feeling in my upper left side (upper right came back more quickly).
My lower lip is slowly regaining from BSSO about a year ago. Change is slowly taking place.
Breathe, and have patience. Your body knows. And that amazing machine is working to heal...constantly!
Cheers,
Phil
