I would like to contribute to this thread (not hijack it but possibly add additional value to it if I may) by adding to dittoxtina's question a request that people who have used this online resource (or any computerized analysis for that matter) please post a profile shot of the analysis next to a shot of their actual results.

I never had this done so am very curious if the results they present through this software actually end up looking like the real-life results.

Thanks dittoxtine and any contributors.

what you are experiencing is totally natural. in fact, i was making myself completely ill over surgery, physical symptoms and all, not over having surgery, post-op care, etc., but rather if i was going to like what i looked like. i implore you to look at my slideshow i have posted. i looked at soooooo many pic pre/post op and SERIOUSLY, every single person looked better aesthetically. i went in for the long haul literally because i wanted my teeth to touch, the aesthetic value from it is just an added bonus.

My surgeon showed me my projected results with a computer program he had in his office... It wasn't an actual website, but rather some software they use in their office.

I am really bad with uploading photos so hopefully this link works lol -
here goes nothing :) The first picture was taken today (8 weeks post-op), the second was about 2 months before surgery, and the last is the prediction imaging that I was shown in my surgeons office.

I'll add some more pictures when I have time, including some non-profile pictures.

Karl: I had a computer analysis and it made chin look pointy. I'm glad I went ahead because actual outcome was better. I'm not so great with photos, so it will take me time to show it here. I think some surgeons are better at the surgery than they are at the computer analysis.

my surgeon doesn't use the computer photos as he believes they cannot predict the soft tissue results accurately.

Mine showed me the prediction sketches they did. They were on what looked like xray film (clear colour) and the profile was sketched in with pencil. Any changes they were doing were in a pink colour. It was the actual size of my face. They used my original xray as a starting point. It wasn't perfect but it gave me a good idea of what the results would be. I will ask if I can get a copy and upload it.

As for pre-surgery nerves. Try to relax. I know it's hard to do. But really there's nothing you can do at this point. You're decision is made. Try to do some relaxation exercises and make sure your family is there and ready to support you.

Good luck.

Hey,
I was going insane with worry pre-surgery, and driving everyone crazy too. On the first day post surgery I had to calm down, I was so high on drugs anyway. And for the next three weeks, despite teh discomfort, I was incredibly calm, just focused on the little things. The 'before' is bad, I feel you there!! :D

KarlClayLA- no prob, i dont mind adding or hyjacking to my question. lol
but thanks everybody, im glad im not the only one feeling this way, and my doctor never told me anything about computer analysis, but he did take xrays and asked the other doctor in the office to start prediction drawings, so thats prolly what there going to show me my next visit, which is tomorrow.

OH AND BTW.. anyone that had to wear the splint after surgery was it even harder to breathe with that in? kinda gross, but today i stuck toilet paper up my nose (pretending my nose was congested) and banded my mouth shut with the rubber bands they give for your braces..i could breathe ok, but with a splint i just wonder if it will be even harder.

I didn't have a splint, just bands, but I couldn't breathe anyway. For me that was the WORST part of it all, sitting in my hospital bed at night desperately trying to clear my nose so that enough oxygen could come in! Horrid. For about two days and two nights - it does get better. :?

On computer analysis, first photo is what my O/S did and I didn't like that pointy chin much. Actual results in second photo, no pointy chin.
