Anyone had their surgery done by military doctors?

I am married to a marine, and the surgery I'm having [Leforte 1 + BSSO] is being done by the Naval Medical center where my husband is stationed.

Has anyone else had their surgery done via the military? Do you think that military doctors are as good as civilian doctors, or vice versa? My surgeon seems very very competent and I like him a lot, but it just occurred to me to ask everyone here :)

Anyone who did have your surgery done by the military, do you think it differed any [post op care, pre op, stay in the hospital, etc] than a civilian hospital? Why or why not?

Thank you in advance! :D

I had my surgery done at Balboa Naval Hospital and the surgeons did an EXCELLENT job. Everyone said that civilian doctors are hands-down better than military doctors, however I think my results have been far better than those of other people I know who went to civilian doctors.

Thank you! :) My husband got stationed in Mira Mar, but not until Jan so I was freaking out a bit because it took a long time to get approved [well, just to get in and get an appt!] and so I'm moving back to Lejuene to get my surgery done before he is stationed on the West Coast. I don't want to risk Balboa rejected my request for surgery.

I'm glad you had a good experience! I haven't ran into many people who have had this surgery with military doctors, so I was worried.

My uncle had his orthognathic surgery done when he was in the Navy. I think it was about 15 years ago, but he's looked great ever since!
