Hello there. Thank goodness I have found this site!

I wonder if anyone can help. 8 years ago I underwent upper jaw intrusion and mandibular advancement with disasterous results.

I am so desperate to have corrective surgery but so frightened it will all go wrong again.

I would greatly appreciate any advice from people living in the UK who have undergone surgery who could recommend a reputable surgeon.

What part of the country are you in? Also, are you looking for private or NHS treatment. My surgery was carried out by Mr Lello, who was excellent, but I believe he has now retired from NHS practice. Not much good to you if you are not near Edinburgh anyway.

my surgeon will be caroline mills, i havent had surgery yet but she seems to know her stuff

My surgeon is Mr Ormiston in Leicester, he is said to be very good.

I had it done through the NHS.

My family who are dentists says he's one of the best in Leicestershire.

My surgeon was Mr Williams at the NHS Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham. I thought he and his team were excellent!

I'm one week post surgery- LeFort I maxillary intrusion to close a 7mm gap at the front of my mouth. My surgeon is Mr Dover and he was EXCELLENT! He really knows his stuff and is very experienced and respected...and the surgery went perfectly thank God! I had it done at the Queen Elizabeth in Birmingham privately (I couldn't wait for my turn on the NHS waiting list after 2 years of braces!) but he also treats a certain number of Nhs patients too...I would def recommend!

I have followed up on the valuable advice given, but have sadly not found a resolution.

It's now 7 years later, so 15 years post-op? Jeez...

I had my jaw surgery done by Mr SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM at the James Cook University hospital in Middlesbrough and I can't praise him enough. A lot of the orthodontic team are serving military personnel and they are used to rebuilding shattered faces so jaw surgery is mundane to them! The hospital is one of the top rated since the army detachment arrived. It was rather bizarre waking up from my second operation to see a Colonel in full uniform standing at the side of my bed!

You've been waiting 15 years. I wouldn't wait another 15 years for someone on here to comment. This surgery seems to be pretty much a crapshoot anyways, so IMO you should make appointments all over town until you find someone who convinces you that they're capable of fixing your situation. If you go to an honest rookie surgeon, they should tell you "This is too complicated for me. I recommend you see Dr. ____ who is highly experience in your type of case." Good luck.
