I feel exactly the same! I have a HUGe nose and no chin! My ex brother in law used to call me 'the chinless wonder'. Had my wisdom teeth out new years eve last year and have just had my 'train track' braces fitted (all on the NHS).

I'm 37 years old, so I feel very self conscious! My jaw is under developed, so I have to have a bone graft, then my jaw re-set - I guess it will be a couple of years till it happens. So, I'm now saving to have a nose job when it's all over!

My looks have been described as 'striking'. Hmmm yes, as an underbiter I take that as a bit of a backhanded compliment. Strong jawline is another one i've heard, though square face is the probably the description i'd choose for myself.

My Leforte I and sliding genio cannot come soon enough!

I have been in braces on the NHS as you can see nine months, im having a lower jaw advancment too but i dont need the bone graft i dont think. I doubt your need a nose job after this surgery becuase i think when the chin is in the correct place your nose will definitely look smaller (thats what i cant wait for !)

hopefully only 3 more months left for me and boy its all gone so fast.

As for being called names, as a teenager I was called Horseface because of my gummy smile and prominent teeth. Also told I was frowning when I wasn't. Was told I looked like Eleanor Roosevelt or Carol Burnet when all we had in common was receding chins. As if the chin is the sole center of our identities.

well all of this torment will be a thing of the past now !

i had exzema when i was a child so most of the name calling was about my skin, kids pick up on the things that effect you most and use it against you. My skin was never even that bad but i think i did have break outs due to the stress of being bullied.

Someone did call me ski slope teeth once, aint it funny how you remember these like it was yesturday. such a small slip of the mouth for someone can leave you with such dislike to yourself.

Why are some people so b##*dy mean!

Nodody is perfect.. I think in regards to nose's.. they will look bigger in comparison if the chin is underdeveloped. Most Orthos I have seen have said my nose would look less elongated if my jaw was brought forward

Looking at my username, you may have an idea of what I'm going to say.... I went with foxface because that's a bit how it looks. My upper jaw is (was - currently expanding... ) too narrow, so my cheeks always looked sunken in. I have a longish face, with a prominent chin and big cheekbones.
My front teeth are sticking out a little and overlapped slightly.

Of all that, only the appearance of my teeth ever really bothered me - it wasn't terribly obvious, but I didn't like smiling in pictures. Now, the SARPE gap presents you with many things to be self-conscious about, but I already see that the expanded jaw make my cheeks look better.

I look perpetually pissed off and perhaps slightly manish (not to offend any underbiters here. Tha'ts just my perception of myself  )

I don't have an animal comparison, haha. My lower jaw was longer on the right side so my lower face hooked to the left. I've been teased and called ET before because I have a long neck and big eyes, but those are both features I like on myself!

Hehe! Congratulations to you on being so close to the finish line, I'm curious about the before and after pics (and because you said you looked like a shark, very neat). And I think I'm fine with foxface. Maybe I'll go by 'slightly foxier foxface'

I resemble a cricket and a koala. The common denominator being a convex profile. I've been called both before. The cricket thing was supposed to be an insult, the koala comparison wasn't but it still made me very self-conscious. I don't care how cute koalas are, I wouldn't look like one if my lower jaw weren't receded :(

Hmmmm...no names come to mind and even though this is my second go around with braces as an adult...had them when I was 24 and started back at 47. I have had people ask me "why do you need braces...you have such a beautiful smile"...most people with a lower jaw that didn't grow enough don't have a chin...but I do so you can't really tell that I have a bad overbite unless you were to really stare and new what you were looking for. That's why I've signed up for a genio due to the 6-7mm advancement will give me quite a strong and masculine chin...that's what they're telling me anywhooo, and I agree as is my more current post on my blog I show you what it looks like now...advanced a little and then where my OS wants it moved to. Not a pretty chin at all...a little Jay Lenoish....ha!

SHARK!?? (sorry I do NOT mean to offend at all ) I never thought of it myself but that is like the best way I have ever heard of to describe the way I looked before surgery- because my lower jaw/chin were tiny/ non-existant and my nose is huge and pointy. Luckily I have never been called names or anything but the shark thing I can really relate to. LOL
