Im confused

#1 Post by streetmaster »

Been to three Ortho's, the first one told me that he thought he could get by with out surgery.

The second Ortho told me that if i wanted a faster result, surgery is an oppsion, but he can work around it.

The third Ortho was more involved with the exam, and was really pushing for lower jaw surgery because when i clutch my teeth, i have a recess.

All three told me that im a class 2 with 100% overbite, but the one thats pushing for the surgery the most is charging me a $1040. for something called surgical coordination, witch sounds like a kickback to me.

Now the 4 front teeth plus the K9's stick out of the gum a little more than the ones behind them on my lower jaw.

So if i place my overbite were it should be, theres a slight gap between the back teeth, and my jaw is relaxed, with little or no recess.

But in order to bite down, the tips of the lower teeth kinda slid up the backs of the upper teeth, untill they are touching the gum line, giving me the 100% overbite, and the ugly recess in my jaw.

I guess my ? is, if i opt out of going under the knife, is there a chance that i might get lucky and not end up with a bunch of overbite, or the recess in my jaw, after the braces come off? :?: :?: :?:

For most situations, there are different ways doctors can approach the problem to fix it. So if you feel uncomfortable or anxious about what you're hearing, maybe you should go to a few more orthos, and hear what their opinions and ways to fix it would be?

When we did my son's braces about five or six years ago , we didn't "shop around" enough. If we had, we might have found someone sharp enough to identify my son's jaw problems then. Instead, we wasted all that time and money on braces that basically did nothing, and then, five years later, we had to pay for braces again and he had to undergo surgery.

Good luck with what ever you decide! :D
