One Week After Surgery

#1 Post by TinaAH »

Will my nose ever stop dripping?!? :P

Also, when I lay down for more than an hour or two I notice that everything starts swelling up again. I know the obvious solution is "don't lay down"...haha. Any other advice?

By the way, I found out about the Zip n Squeeze bags from this forum. You guys are truly a life saver. I ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and used them all up within the first several days. At this point, the feeling is starting to come back in my lips and face so that I can actually drink from a "big girl cup", but the Zip n Squeeze made the first days so much easier.

Thanks for the support everyone. I'm so appreciative to whomever started this forum originally. Thank you thank you!

My advice is to prop your head up with pillows, especially at night. The warm compresses to the jaw really helped with the aching.

I also found that light walking helped to disperse the swelling, as my body got going again.

I actually purchased a nice used recliner for 50 bucks off of craigslist to sleep in for the first 6-8 weeks and I slept like a baby.

Yeah, the drippy nose totally sucks! But don't worry,it will stop!In my experience by about day 6 or 7 it'll start drying up - or a least turning into thicker stuff- sorry, gross I know! Lol! Good luck!

I'm 10 days post op and the dripping has mostly subsided--not like the first few days, where every time I bent over to lift the toilet lid, it started up, however, I took for granted that it was almost gone, and then, unexpectedly tonight, in the Bed, Bath & Beyond, I saw little droplets hitting my shirt. UGH!

Right now, I am praying that the swelling will finally decrease enough so that I don't have to keep looking like Miss Piggy!
