I am feeling better today. Swelling has gone down some more. Started sleeping on just two pillows last night. Before that I was using a stack of pillows.
Occasional fever and chill that I had before is not here today. Feeling a little more energetic and am having a little more control over my lower lip now.
Sticking to the liquid/blended diet and not doing much experimentation with the bite yet. Will wait till my first appointment with the OS on Wed before trying the bite.
Hope the worst is over...

Glad to hear your doing good. My swelling hasnt gotten any worse. Sleeping at night is an ordeal though. Any and I mean ANY noise at night is keeping me awake. Last night I didnt sleep much, I guess because I napped on and off alot yesterday.
Still on my pain meds thats for sure.

Hi there Surgery Twin! Glad that you are feeling better today.
My fever is still here 99.7 when I last took it! CRAP!
Have you looked in your mouth yet? Can you believe I can ask a question like that? I looked in last night....I used a flashlight and could barely see anything....I did see a hole in the side of my cheek, a stich at the base of my jaw, and I saw that my cheeks are resting/sitting/ on my back molars. I am
not able to completely touch my teeth, but I think it might be because their is cheek in the way! Also , I have a huge ulcer on my front lip that I didn't know was there......good and bad. I wonder if I could use wax? I think my braces are rubbing up against the lip, cuz the jaw was moved forward?
Jet....I am right there with you on the pain meds. Actually, today is the worst day yet for pain. I think the jaw is gaining back some feeling. OUCHIE!
take care my fellow jaw surgery patients
be well

I have not looked inside my mouth yet - not feeling too interested, I don't think I'll find anything pleasing
Couple of my brackets from the upper came off - I just noticed it today. I'll call the OD tomorrow to see if he wants to put them back in place.
I was feeling pretty energetic in the morning but not so in the afternoon. I did manage to play a few tunes on my bass guitar and that felt good! Now I'll try to watch some Cowboys game.

Soleil, if you don't mind me adding-as hard as it is, don't try to sleep too flat too soon. Keeping your head elevated helps swelling go down quicker.
I agree that sleeping sucks......it was so hard for me to get comfortable.
I also had no desire to look into my mouth for awhile. It took everything I had just to brush and rinse.
I hope all of you continue smoothly on your recoveries. I think you'll find that after today, you'll be feeling much better.
Many blessings,
OM

I slept in my recliner for a week and a half. Even though I didn't have much swelling in the start, I'm sure that sleeping in the recliner helped. My swelling peeked the day after surgery for what it's worth and never got any worse. I was off pain meds about 5 days after double jaw surgery and genio. I've got over half a bottle left of the good stuff
If you have a recliner that is definitely what I would be sleeping in.

Im thinking if you can use the wax to keep a bracket from rubbing go ahead and use it.
For the ulcer (I think that is a side effect of the OS) just put something on it would be ok also. My hospital gave me some stuff for my lips but I didnt need i one I got home.
My jaw isnt gaining any feeling but I can tell the cut nerves are back at work trying to figure out what happened. I have alot of tingling in my lower lip and some in my chin. Every once and a while my lip itches but touching my lip does nothing. Also once and a while my lower lip burns, for about 5-6 seconds.
Now the only thing that really bothers me is my upper cheak bone area of my face. Once and a while it feels like the skin is beeing pulled back on both sides of my face.
Oh yea, food does not taste like it should. You know when your sick how food has an off taste. I have that, on pretty much everything I eat.
I got rid of the liquid pain med and stepped up to the advill pills. I was wondering if the nasty liquid stuff was making my tummy a lil upset.
In the end if nothing gets worse I think I will be ok. My cat has been here next to me the whole time I have been home, that helps.
Oh tonight I had some spaghetti. ground meat ground real fine with small cut up angle hair. It was sooo good.
