Hello!
I had both upper and lower jaw surgery almost 4 months ago. my face almost looks normal, except the left side of my face. I feel normal and can pretty much eat everything. On the side of my nose its still puffy and my cheeks are not like they used to be. I get commented alot on this by relative and close friends and its pissing me off. my surgeon denies any swelling and he always just wants to get rid of me to see his next patient ..sweetheart.. im not going to see him for another 2 months. so im relying on this website :) has anyone experienced swelling after this long?

thanks
Mo

I'm over 6 months post op and I think I still might have a little swelling--I have heard it can take up to a year for all the residual swelling to disappear. At 4 months I think you still could have some swelling. Everyone heals differently.

I am 16 weeks post op-upper, lower and genio as well and still have swelling. My right side especially has round, chipmunk appearance. No one comments on it but I can see and best friend confirms as well. I have heard it takes up to a year as well. Be grateful you are eating normally, I still cannot open to 2 fingers yet. I have resigned my self to have a "funky face"-swelling, braces and stiffness in upper in lower lips, for the rest of 2009 and I gonna "kick it" in 2010. I had to stop rushing my recovery and debracing. Continued good luck!

I'm just over the 5 month post op from my lefort and i still have a little bit of swelling on my left side around the same area. its not horribly noticeable abut i can tell if i touch the area. its funny cause where the swelling is where i'm having really weird sensitivity. I've come to the conclusion that its a bit of nerve damage. Hopefully that will clear up. suregeon says this could take some time but thank goodness its not horribly noticeable. My mom says in order to see the swelling she has to look hard at my face so this is good.

If your really self concious about the swelling you may want to try arnica cream or tissue salts. that helps with inflamation and has seemed to be duoing the the trick for me

thanks for all the feedback. I notice after I eat the swelling increased just a little bit.
