Hey everyone
I'm new to this board and will be having surgery in Costa Rica in January with Dr. Reiche. Insurance won't cover me and I'm paying out of pocket so this is pretty much my only choice. I'm REAL nervous to go overseas but have heard good things about this particular doctor plus he is one of 2 surgeons in Costa Rica that are accredited by the AAOMS and he has good before and after pics.
I am getting genio, lower jaw, and upper jaw. I'd be nervous as it is if I were to go somewhere in the country but going out of the country makes my nerves 100x worse. Did anyone here get their surgery in another country?? If so, I'd appreciate it if you messaged me or replied with your experiences. I feel like I'm the only person going through this.

Hi, are you the guy "S" that I spoke to last week?
If so, congrats on your surgery date.
If I haven't talked to you, you are most welcome to contact me and I can tell you of my experience.

I had surgery with Dr. Reiche on 10/22. He's great. The whole experience was great.
It's definitely a crazy experience but the people there are great and take good care of you.
Just like OzzysMom, I'm sure I can help answer any of your questions about where you'll be staying, what you can expect, etc. etc. It's funny I was so shocked by how willing she was to share all the details with me but here I am ready to do the same.
The only thing I'd warn you about is that you should send your molds down there in advance (if possible) just to be sure you are ACTUALLY ready for surgery.
I almost had to delay because Dr. Reiche wasn't sure if I was ready yet. In the end, he had to grind a few teeth but he got the results he expected.
Seriously though, any questions at all, I'm happy to help.

Why?
I've seen a couple pages now about surgery in Costa Rica.
Why Costa Rica specifically?
What are the benefits? Cost related?
